The Little Guard holds six fat balls in an inner rack surrounded by a cage with gaps sized for small birds only - blue tits, great tits, long-tailed tits, wrens on a bold day - while pigeons, starlings, magpies and squirrels stay on the outside looking in.

In a cold snap a busy garden can empty a fat ball feeder in days, so the top-loading rack is designed for quick refills with cold fingers. The whole cage unclips for a proper scrub, which matters with suet.

Hang it high enough that cats cannot reach and watch the small birds claim it within the week.
